Report for  2018 - 2019

2018

On 2nd October Mrs Hilary Flynn came to talk to us about "Nature's Wonders". She used her laptop to show us some wonderful pictures taken around the Island and the rest of Britain. She is a very successful photographer and her pictures concentrated on birds, and Flora and Fauna.

On 6th November we welcomed Mr Peter Murcott whose talk was entitled, "Of No Particular Note". Unfortunately I was away, but Peter gave me a booklet about the talk which was of "Miscellaneous Poems". They were mostly of a religious theme and were really good.

On 4th December we welcomed Mr John and Mrs Pat Walmsley (Church Warden and PC.C. Secretary respectively). They projected pictures of their recent trip to Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos. Their wonderful pictures on screen gave us all an insight of the countries scenery and their way of life. Excellent.

                                                                                2019

On 8th January we welcomed Mr Gordon Buist as our speaker. He came to talk about "Stauos", which is a Christian organization which seeks to minister to people who are addicted to alcohol, drugs etc. Very sobering problems!

On 5th February we welcomed Mr Norman Rivers  as our speaker. He came to talk to us about "The Friends of Chernobyl" Isle of Man group. This is a charity that helps to provide family placements for underprivileged children from Belarus for at least one month per year, and meets the cost of health care, dental, audiology tests etc.- and lots of TLC.

On 5th March we welcomed Mrs Margaret Galloway. She spoke about "Tales out of School" -

an Insights into a Head Teacher and School Inspector. Margaret taught in some very deprived areas of Yorkshire before coming to teach on the Island. She has some quite sad memories of many deprived children, and some funny ones too!

On 2nd April we will be welcoming Mr Peter Clague whose subject will be "More Travels"

The fellowship has had a very interesting number of speakers and this session has been very well supported by members. At one meeting we had 21 people - a record!

We will be having our A.G.M. and outing on Tuesday 16th July 2019 commencing at 5.30pm in church. This will be followed by a visit to St. Sactain's Church, Santon, near Port Grenaugh on the old Castletown Road for a short evening service and tour of the church and grounds. We will then travel to 'The Whitestone Inn' for an evening meal at 7.30pm. Full details can be obtained from Edwin Creer

Thanks to all members for their support.
